Bill of Materials

A bill of materials also referred to as (BOM) is a comprehensive list of the raw materials or parts contributing to build a finished product. Each line of the BOM specifies the component name along with the number of units used in the production process.

BOMs are often used in manufacturing or inventory management to ensure that all required components are on hand and that products can be assembled efficiently.

Creating BOMs

  1. Go to Inventory > Products.
  2. Click Create Product.
  3. Enter your product details (i.e. name, description…).
  4. Press Save to save your changes.
  5. Scroll to the bottom-right of the page and click Convert to Bundle.
  6. In the bundle dialog, check the This is a manufactured product checkbox.
  7. To enter the different BOM parts, click Add line.
  8. Click Save & close.

The following fields are visible in the BOM window:

Product name
The component’s name on the BOM.
SKU
