The Shopify settings page has three areas that decide where your Shopify stock lands, how prices are stored, and whether Qoblex can save your settings at all: Location Mapping, the store currency and exchange rate, and the two price-list selectors under Pricing Synchronization. Getting these right before your first product import means quantities land in the right warehouse and prices are stored in a currency Qoblex can work with.
This article explains how each Shopify location maps to a Qoblex location, when the per-location Sync Inventory? toggle appears, how to handle a store currency that differs from your Qoblex base currency, and every validation Qoblex runs before it will save. After reading it you will know how to complete the mapping table, set up an exchange rate, choose your price lists, and clear any message that blocks the save.
Map your Shopify locations to Qoblex locations
Location Mapping is section 2 on the Shopify settings page. What you see there depends on how many locations each side has.
If you have a single stock location in Qoblex and Shopify multi-location is off, Qoblex does not show a mapping table. It displays: “We detected that you have one single location within Qoblex. Your Shopify store locations will therefore be mapped to the default location defined in Qoblex.” There is nothing to configure in that case.
If you have more than one Qoblex location, or Shopify multi-location is enabled, Qoblex shows the mapping table under the question “Which warehouse location would you like to connect your store to?” The table has a Shopify Location column (read-only, listing your Shopify locations) and a Qoblex Location column where you pick the matching Qoblex location from a dropdown. A Shopify location backed by a custom fulfillment service is shown with a ” (fulfillment service)” suffix on its name.
Create a Qoblex location from a Shopify location
If a Shopify location has no equivalent in Qoblex yet, use the Create location button in that row instead of the dropdown. Qoblex opens the location editor pre-filled from the Shopify location details when they are available: name, address line 1 and line 2, city, state or province, country, postal code, and phone. The new location is set to hold inventory and to be available in purchase orders. Once you save it, it becomes the mapped Qoblex location for that row.
When Shopify multi-location is enabled and your Shopify store has more locations than Qoblex, Qoblex shows a warning above the table: “Your Shopify store has more locations than what is defined in Qoblex. We highly recommended that you setup as many locations in Qoblex as you have in Shopify.” (This warning only appears when Shopify multi-location is enabled and Shopify has more locations than Qoblex.) Use Create location on each unmapped row to close the gap.
The Sync Inventory? toggle
The mapping table shows a fourth column, Sync Inventory?, with a per-row on/off switch, only when your inventory level sync direction is set to Sync from Qoblex to Shopify. This is the “Inventory levels Synchronization” choice in section 1. When inventory is set to Do not sync, the column is hidden and there is nothing to toggle. (The inventory control offers only Do not sync and Sync from Qoblex to Shopify, so those are the only two states.) Turn the switch on for each location where Qoblex should control the Shopify stock level, and off for locations Qoblex should leave alone.
If you later change the sync direction away from Sync from Qoblex to Shopify and save, Qoblex clears the per-location toggles for you, so you do not have to reset them by hand.
Default location for web-channel orders
Below the mapping table (shown whenever the table is shown), Qoblex asks: “Which location to use as default for orders created via the web channel?” Pick the Qoblex location that should own new online orders. As the on-screen note says, “you will still be able fulfill online orders from other locations”, so this only sets the default, not a hard restriction.
Store currency and exchange rate
An exchange rate is only needed when the price list you sync prices with is in a different currency from your Shopify store. If that price list is already in your store’s currency, no conversion is involved and there is nothing to set up here. For example, if your store sells in GBP and the price list you sync is in NOK, Qoblex needs a rate to convert between them; if both the store and the price list are in NOK, no rate is needed.
In the default setup, your Price list is the reserved Retail list, which is in your Qoblex base currency. That is why, when a conversion is needed, the on-screen message is phrased around your base currency. The Pricing Synchronization section reacts to whether the rate exists:
- No rate defined yet. Qoblex shows a red “Currency setup:” message: “Your store currency is [currency] but your base currency in Qoblex is [base currency]. To continue, please define the exchange rate we will use to store your prices in your base currency in Qoblex.” A Setup Exchange rate button sits next to it. Click it, enter the rate in the dialog, and save.
- Rate already defined. Qoblex shows the conversion it will use instead, for example: “Your Shopify product prices are defined in [currency]. Prices will be stored in Qoblex in [base currency] using the conversion rate: 1 [base currency] = [rate] [currency].”
Price and Compare At price lists
Under Pricing Synchronization you choose two price lists:
- “Which price list would you like to assign to your product prices on your store?” This is the Price list, for normal selling prices.
- “Which price list would you like to assign to your product Compare At prices on your store?” This is the Compare At list, for Shopify compare-at (strikethrough) prices.
Each dropdown shows the list name followed by its currency symbol. By default the Price list is the reserved Retail price list and the Compare At list is the reserved Retail Compare At list.
The save-blocking checks, with the exact message Qoblex shows for each:
- More Shopify locations than Qoblex locations. “You have more locations in Shopify than in your Qoblex Account. Click Create Location next each Shopify location to create a corresponding entry in Qoblex” This check runs first and stops the save on its own, so clear it before the others can be evaluated. Use Create location to add the missing Qoblex locations.
- The same Qoblex location mapped to more than one Shopify location. “Location [name] in Qoblex is mapped to multiple locations in Shopify. Please check your location mappings under Location Mappings section above” Give each Shopify location its own Qoblex location, or create the missing ones.
- Price and Compare At set to the same list. “Price and Compare At price lists must be different” Point the two selectors at different lists.
- Price and Compare At lists in different currencies. “Price and Compare At price lists must have the same currency” Choose two lists that share a currency.
- A custom Price list not in the store currency. “Price price list must have the same currency as your store ([currency])” This is checked for custom price lists; make sure the list was created in your Shopify store currency.
- A custom Compare At list not in the store currency. “Compare At price list must have the same currency as your store ([currency])” Same rule applies to the Compare At list.
- Missing exchange rate. “Please define a currency exchange rate first.” Add the rate with Setup Exchange rate.
