Disconnecting Xero removes the accounting integration from Qoblex: it revokes Qoblex’s connection to your Xero organization and deletes the saved Xero integration record and credentials in Qoblex. After disconnecting, Qoblex stops sending sales, purchases, inventory, and manufacturing accounting activity to Xero until the integration is connected and configured again.
This article explains what disconnecting does, what to check before you disconnect, how to do it from the Xero page, and how to recover if the disconnect does not complete. Disconnecting does not undo or remove anything Qoblex has already sent to Xero; it only stops future syncing.
What disconnecting does
When you disconnect Xero, Qoblex:
- revokes the connection to the linked Xero organization (Qoblex no longer has access to that organization);
- deletes the stored Xero credentials and the Xero integration record in Qoblex, which removes all of the Xero configuration you set up (the Sales, Purchases, Manufacturing, Inventory, and Tax mappings settings);
- returns to the Integrations area, where Xero no longer appears as the installed accounting integration.
Documents and journals that Qoblex already synced remain in Xero. Disconnecting does not delete or reverse them.
Before you disconnect
Disconnecting interrupts accounting sync and discards your Xero configuration in Qoblex, so review the current state first.
Open the Sync Status tab on the Xero page and check:
- whether any transactions are still pending or failed to sync. The tab’s transaction-type filter offers Sales, Sale Refunds, Purchases, Adjustments, and Supplier Refunds;
- whether records that already synced to Xero are correct (these stay in Xero after you disconnect);
- whether the accounting team still expects Qoblex to send new transactions;
- whether a different fix would solve the issue without disconnecting (see below).
If failed records are visible in Sync Status, decide whether to resolve them before disconnecting or to intentionally leave them unsynced, and record that decision for accounting review.
When not to disconnect
Disconnecting is rarely the right first step. Do not disconnect Xero if the problem can be resolved by:
- reconnecting or restoring authorization with Xero;
- correcting ledger account settings on the Sales, Purchases, Manufacturing, or Inventory tabs;
- correcting Tax mappings;
- adjusting override rules for future syncs;
- resolving failed records in Sync Status and re-syncing them.
Disconnect the integration
- Go to Integrations and open Xero.
- Select Disconnect in the footer of the Xero page. This button is shown on every tab, so you do not need to be on a specific tab.
- When Qoblex opens the Confirm Disconnection from Xero dialog and asks Are you sure you want to uninstall “Xero” integration ?, confirm to proceed.
When the disconnect succeeds, Qoblex clears the Xero connection and returns you to the Integrations area, where Xero no longer shows as installed.
After disconnecting
- Confirm in Integrations that Xero no longer appears as the installed accounting integration.
- Tell finance users that new sales, purchases, inventory movements, and manufacturing costs will not sync to Xero until an accounting integration is connected and configured again.
- If you reconnect later, reconfigure every tab (Sales, Purchases, Manufacturing, Inventory, and Tax mappings) before syncing new transactions. Your previous Xero settings were deleted when you disconnected and are not restored automatically.
Information to record
Before disconnecting, note these details so the accounting team has a clear record if Xero is reconnected later:
- the connected Xero organization;
- the reason for disconnecting;
- whether Sync Status had failed or pending records;
- the last successful sync date, if known;
- who approved the disconnect.
