Once your Amazon store is connected, the Amazon integration page opens on its Settings tab (a second tab, Product Sync Status, is covered in its own article). This tab holds the two values Qoblex uses whenever it brings an Amazon order into your account: a default customer and a default location. Setting them correctly is what lets your Amazon orders import cleanly, because every order that arrives from Amazon is created under the customer and location you choose here.
This article explains what each setting does, how to set it, and how to save your changes. It also covers the difference between a store that is still being set up and one that is already established, so you know which buttons to expect at the bottom of the page.
What the two settings control
Amazon orders are imported into Qoblex automatically. Every imported Amazon order is recorded against the same customer and created at the same location, no matter which buyer placed the order on Amazon. That is what these two settings define:
- Default customer (required): the single Qoblex contact that every imported Amazon order is recorded against. Qoblex does not create a separate contact per Amazon buyer, so this one customer is applied to all Amazon orders. Until it is set, Qoblex cannot import Amazon orders at all: each incoming order is skipped and a warning, “Unable to process Amazon order. Default customer for Amazon orders is not set”, is written to your Activity feed.
- Default location: the shipping location that imported Amazon orders are created at. The list is drawn from your company’s shipping locations.
Both settings appear on the Settings tab under these two prompts:
- “Which customer to use as default for orders created via the web channel?”
- “Which location to use as default for orders created via the web channel?”
Set the default customer
The default customer field is a search box with the placeholder “Enter contact name”. You can attach an existing contact or create a new one.
To use an existing contact:
- Click into the Enter contact name field.
- Start typing the contact’s name. A list of matching contacts appears as you type.
- Select the contact you want from the list. Its name fills the field.
To edit the contact you have selected, click the pencil (edit) button beside the field. This opens the contact editor for the currently selected contact.
To add a brand-new contact:
- Click the plus (add) button beside the field.
- Fill in the new contact’s details in the editor that opens.
- Save the contact. It becomes the selected default customer.
Set the default location
The default location is a dropdown list. Open it and choose one of your company’s shipping locations. Only locations already set up on your company appear in this list, so add the location in your company settings first if the one you need is missing.
Save your changes
Use the Save button at the bottom of the page to store both settings. When the save succeeds, Qoblex shows the confirmation message “Amazon integration changes saved”.
If the default customer is empty, saving stops and the message “The default customer is not set” appears in the error area at the bottom of the page instead of the save confirmation. Set a customer and save again.
Pending vs established connections
The buttons at the bottom right of the page change depending on whether your store setup is finished.
- Pending connection (setup not yet finished): you see Finish Setting Up Your store alongside Save. Use Finish Setting Up Your store to save your settings and move on to importing your products. Use Save on its own if you only want to store the settings for now.
- Established connection (setup finished): you see Cancel alongside Save. Cancel discards any unsaved changes on the page and returns you to where you were. Save stores your changes.
Troubleshooting
If saving does not behave as expected, work through the item below.
This means no default customer is selected. Qoblex requires a default customer before it can save the Amazon settings.
- Click into the Enter contact name field and select an existing contact, or use the plus button to add a new one.
- Once a contact is selected and its name shows in the field, click Save again. You should then see “Amazon integration changes saved”.
