Customer groups let you organize selected customer contacts into named groups. Group assignment is available from the Customers page bulk action menu.
On the Customers table, assigned groups appear in the Groups column as badges. Use this column to confirm that a bulk assignment was applied to the expected customers.
Customer groups can affect B2B portal behavior when the B2B portal uses group-specific collections or order rules.
Requirements
The group assignment action on the Customers page requires the B2B portal integration to be installed.
If B2B is not installed, Qoblex shows B2B Portal Not Installed and Please install the B2B portal before proceeding with this operation.
Customer groups are assigned to customer contacts, not to individual sales orders. A group should represent an ongoing customer classification such as a wholesale tier, region, buying group, or portal access group.
Before creating a new group, check whether an existing group already covers the same customers. Duplicate group names or near-duplicate groups can make B2B portal setup harder to maintain.
Assign Customers to a Group
- Open Contacts > Customers.
- Select one or more customers using the checkbox column.
- Open Bulk Actions.
- Select Assign Groups under the B2B PORTAL section.
- Enter a group name in Group Name ...
- Select Save.
The assignment dialog title is Assign Customers to Groups. Its helper text says Enter group name to select an existing one or create new one. (Assign Groups is the name of the bulk-action menu item that opens it.)
The dialog has Cancel and Save actions. Select Cancel or the close icon to close it without changing group membership.
If no customers are selected, Qoblex shows No contacts selected and Please select one or more contacts and try again.
While Qoblex creates a new group or updates an existing group, the page is blocked until the request finishes. When the request succeeds, the dialog closes.
If the save request fails, the dialog may remain open after the page blocker clears. Review the group name and selected customers, then try again or refresh the Customers page before repeating the assignment.
Use clear group names so staff can recognize them later in B2B portal settings.
Selecting Customers Safely
The bulk action applies to every selected customer. Before saving, confirm the selected count and scan the visible customer names in the table. If filters are active on the Customers page, remember that only the visible filtered set may be selected.
Use the Groups column after saving to confirm membership. If the table still shows the previous group values, refresh the Customers page before repeating the assignment. This avoids assigning the same customers twice because the table has not refreshed yet.
Choose an Existing Group
When you type in the group name field, Qoblex suggests existing group names that match what you type.
Select or type an existing group name and save. Qoblex adds the selected customers to that group. Qoblex treats it as an existing group only when the entered name exactly matches a loaded group name.
Matching is case-insensitive while suggestions are displayed, but Qoblex only updates an existing group when the final entered value exactly matches the loaded group name.
Create a New Group While Assigning Customers
Type a group name that does not already exist and save.
Qoblex creates the group and adds the selected customers as members.
Creating a group from the Customers page creates the group with the selected customers as members in the same action. To configure B2B group-specific collections, pricing, or shipping behavior, open the B2B portal settings after the group exists.
Operational Uses
Use customer groups when staff need to manage a shared rule for multiple customers:
- B2B portal collections for a specific customer set.
- Minimum order or ordering rules for a wholesale group.
- Internal segmentation for customers handled by the same team.
- Faster review of which customers belong to a portal access group.
Changing a customer’s group membership can affect what that customer sees or can order in the B2B portal when portal settings depend on groups. Review the B2B configuration before changing large groups.
Empty Group Name
If you save with an empty group name, Qoblex does not assign a group, does not show a validation message, and the dialog stays open. Enter a group name before selecting Save.
Group ID Missing
If Qoblex identifies the entered name as an existing group but the group ID is missing, it shows Something went wrong , Group Id is missing !. Refresh the Customers page and open the group assignment dialog again.
When Group Loading Fails
If Qoblex cannot load existing groups, it shows Something went wrong while fetching groups !. Refresh the Customers page and try again.
If the save request fails without closing the dialog, leave the dialog open, check the selected group name, and try again after the page blocker clears. If the same customers were already assigned, refresh the Customers page and review the Groups column before repeating the action.
After Assigning Groups
After assignment, review the Groups column on the Customers table.
If the group controls B2B collections or order rules, open B2B Portal Settings and confirm the group has the correct collections, pricing, and minimum order settings.
