Quotes

Customize quote columns and sorting

The quotes table lets you choose which columns are shown, drag the standard columns into the order you prefer, and sort the list by the columns that matter to your workflow. These controls change how the table is displayed and never change any quote data.

Your column choices and column order are remembered in your browser, and you can also capture the current columns, order, and sorting together as a reusable custom quote view.

Show or hide columns

Use the column button at the top-right of the quotes table toolbar to choose which columns appear.

  1. Select the column button (the three-dots icon) at the top-right of the table.
  2. In the popover that opens, use the checkbox next to each column name to show or hide it.
  3. Use Select All at the top to turn every column on or off at once.
  4. Use the Search columns… box to quickly find a column when the list is long.

The standard quote columns you can show or hide are:

  • Quote number
  • Customer
  • State
  • Mobile phone
  • Land line phone
  • Sale agent
  • Created date
  • Due date
  • Products
  • Tags
  • Total

When the quotes in the current results carry custom fields, those custom field columns also appear in the popover, grouped together, and can be shown or hidden the same way.

The Products column shows a per-quote summary of the line items, and Total shows the quote amount. Both are display-only.

Reorder columns

You reorder columns from the same popover as the column picker.

  1. Open the column popover using the column button at the top-right of the table.
  2. Point at a standard column row and use its drag handle (the grip icon on the right of the row) to drag it up or down in the list.
  3. Release it in the position you want. The table updates so its left-to-right column order matches the top-to-bottom order in the list.

Drag the columns you rely on for decisions toward the top so they sit at the left of the table.

Only the standard columns have a drag handle. Custom field columns are locked as a group and cannot be dragged individually. The drag handles are also hidden while a search term is typed in the Search columns… box, so clear the search before reordering.

Sort quotes

Select a sortable column header to sort the quotes list by that column. Each click on the same header cycles through three states: first click sorts ascending (an up arrow appears), a second click sorts descending (a down arrow appears), and a third click removes that column from the sort. You can sort by more than one column at a time by clicking additional sortable headers.

Sortable columns are:

  • Quote number
  • Customer
  • State
  • Sale agent
  • Created date
  • Due date

The following columns cannot be sorted: Mobile phone, Land line phone, Products, Tags, and Total. Their headers do not respond to a sort click and show no sort arrow.

When sorting is active, a Sorting chip appears above the table with a number showing how many columns the list is sorted by. Open the chip to see each sorted column with a Direction selector set to Asc or Desc, change a column’s direction from that selector, or remove a single column from the sort with the cross next to it. On the standard quotes table, select the cross on the chip itself to clear all sorting at once.

On a saved custom quote view the Sorting chip has no clear-all cross, but you can still open it to change each column’s direction or remove individual columns. To keep a new sort order with the view, update the view after changing it.

How your choices are saved

Column visibility and column order are saved in your browser for the quotes table, so the table opens the same way the next time you return in the same browser. These choices are per-user and per-browser and are not shared across your team or carried to another device.

Each custom quote view keeps its own saved set of visible columns. When you open a custom view, the table starts from that view’s columns; when you open the standard quotes table, it uses the columns you last chose there.

Sorting is not stored in your browser on its own. To keep a sort order for later, save it as part of a custom quote view.

Save the layout as a custom view

When you have the columns, order, and sorting you want, save them together so you and your team can reuse the setup.

  1. Adjust columns, column order, and sorting on the quotes table.
  2. When sorting or filters are active, the Save view button appears above the table. Select it.
  3. Give the view a name and save it.

For the full workflow, including editing and deleting views, see Save and manage custom quote views.

Creating, editing, and converting a quote all happen in the sale-order workspace, not on this table. See Create and edit sales orders.

Troubleshooting

A column I want is not in the table
Open the column popover using the column button at the top-right of the table and confirm the column’s checkbox is selected. Custom field columns appear only when a quote in the current results uses that custom field, so if no quote in the current results carries the field, its column is not listed.
I cannot drag a column in the popover
Only the standard columns have a drag handle; custom field columns are locked as a group. The handles are also hidden while you have text in the Search columns… box. Clear the search box, then drag the standard columns by the grip handle on the right of each row.
Sorting does not work on a column
Only Quote number, Customer, State, Sale agent, Created date, and Due date can be sorted. Mobile phone, Land line phone, Products, Tags, and Total cannot be sorted and show no sort arrow. Sort by the closest sortable column instead, for example Due date for follow-up priority or Customer for account review.
A custom view does not show the columns I expect
Open the view, adjust which columns are visible using the column popover, then update the view so the new column set is saved with it. See Save and manage custom quote views.
My column changes did not carry over to another device
Column visibility and order are saved in the browser you were using, not on your account. Reapply your column choices in the new browser, or save them as a custom quote view so they travel with the view.
