Plain definitions of the terms used across the Contacts help articles. Customers and suppliers share one underlying record, so most of these terms apply to both.
Record Types
Contact — A company you buy from or sell to. It is the single record behind both customers and suppliers, edited in the same contact editor (company details, addresses, people, tax, payment, pricing, and notes). A contact can be a customer, a supplier, or both.
Customer — A contact you sell to. Customer contacts can be invited to the B2B portal, organized into customer groups, and linked to sale agents.
Supplier — A contact you buy from. Supplier contacts carry purchasing fields such as purchase tax class, currency, and minimum order value, and are used on purchase orders, bills, deposits, and supplier returns.
Customer Classification
Business Type — A classification, either Wholesale or Retail, set on the Advanced tab of the contact editor. It is used mainly for customers — new customers default to Retail — and appears in the Business Type column on the Customers list.
Customer Group — A named grouping of customer contacts (for example a wholesale tier, region, or buying group). Groups are assigned from the Customers page bulk actions and are mainly used to drive B2B portal collections and ordering rules. See Customer groups.
B2B Portal Terms
B2B portal — The self-service ordering portal where invited customers place their own orders. B2B features (invitations, sale agents, group assignment) require the B2B portal integration to be installed; without it Qoblex shows B2B Portal Not Installed.
B2B invitation — The action of inviting selected customers to order through the B2B portal. Invited customers show a check icon in the B2B column on the Customers list. See Invite customers and sale agents to B2B.
Sale agent — A B2B portal user, identified by email, linked to one or more customers to act on their behalf in the portal. Sale agents are invited from the Customers list and reviewed or removed on a customer’s B2B Agents tab. A sale agent is not the same as a contact person.
People
Contact person — An individual at the contact’s company (name, email, phone, title), managed on the Contacts tab of the contact editor. Contact people are reference people for the company; they are saved together with the contact and are separate from B2B sale agents.
Primary contact person — The main person on the contact record, entered in the Primary Person name field on the General tab. Required when you create a new contact, before its first address can be added.
Addresses
Default shipping address — The customer address Qoblex uses by default for shipping on future sales documents. Set per address on a customer contact; only customer contacts have this option.
Default billing address — The customer address Qoblex uses by default for billing on future documents. Set per address on a customer contact; only customer contacts have this option. See Addresses and default customer addresses.
Commercial Fields
Payment terms — The agreed payment timeframe applied to a contact’s documents, set on the Advanced tab.
Price list — A named set of prices that can be assigned to a contact so its documents use those prices. Can be left as None.
Tax class — The sales tax class (customers) or purchase tax class (suppliers) applied to the contact’s documents.
Tax Number — The contact’s tax registration number.
EORI — The contact’s Economic Operators Registration and Identification number, used for customs. (Note: the contacts CSV import column for this is spelled EOIR.)
Minimum Order Value — A supplier setting for the smallest order amount, used in purchasing.
